Living Simply the Master Bedroom

Oh my goodness you guys I am so excited to share this post with you! Getting rid of the clutter really has changed me in so many ways! I feel lighter (even though there is still baby weight to loose). I feel more determined. I feel more focused. Most importantly I feel content. I have everything I need. Yes, it is always nice to get a new pair of shoes, but now I choose very wisely. Instead of shopping for the fun of it, I shop for items I actually need. I used to spend hours in the mall, buying things I really didn't need, and sometimes couldn't afford. In the moment buying another pair of earrings made me happy, it was fun, it's what girl's do...right? Well not this girl anymore! Because in the end buying more stuff didn't make me happy. It made me stressed, because when I brought the earrings home, I didn't have room for them in my already stuffed jewelry organizer.

All those clothes in my closet I never wore were actually hiding the clothes I liked and wanted to wear, but I didn't know they were even there!

So friend this is what living simply in my master bedroom means to me:

  1. You gotta go through that closet. Pull it all out. EVERYTHING! Keep only what you LOVE!!!! That's the only rule! "Do I love this?" All of a sudden there is room for everything! I can actually store all my seasonal decor in my closet along with my clothes now with shelves to spare!
  2. Get your husband on board! Once we both went through our clothes we downsized enough to get rid of BOTH of our dressers, leaving our small master feeling light and airy and peaceful which was always my goal.
  3. Your night stands are not there for storing junk. I use mine to store my computer, camera, and extra batteries. It's my work space! And on the Hub's side there are even empty drawers!
  4. My bathroom linen closet always stressed me out, because it was stuffed full rooter to tooter. Why I was keeping all those towels and sheets I will never know. I got rid of every towel that wasn't white. Why? Because I LOVE white towels! They are the best since you can bleach those stains right out, and let's face it they look so pretty folded nicely in your closet.

The bottom line is no corner is safe. Go through it all! I made it happen in one day so I could stay focused, and so I could feel the full effect of my purge. My goal was to keep only what I loved, and so in the end I have only 1 pair of sheets. I love them. I wash them every week and put them right back on the bed.

Marianne :)
