How I redecorate without spending money

Sometimes the struggle is REAL friends! If you follow me on Instagram you know I recently went Target shopping for my daughters for fall. I tried my best to stay away from that stinkin home section, but you know....Instantly I needed everything, and everything in my home had to GO! I took a deep breath and slowly (crying a little on the inside) pushed my cart past the amazing clearance home section, and told myself I could live another day without blowing my budget and chucking all my current decor. In all honesty I DO need to change things up every so often in my home. I am HOME A LOT. I home school our 3 youngest, and we are home bodies now that we are dealing with a kid with TONS of life threatening allergies.I need a little switch-a-roo to keep it exciting and to not go totally bonkers! So here is what I do when I need a change, but I don't want to spend any money.

  1. I clean AND pick up my house. Top to bottom. Not a fun task, but it's like everything stands at attention when I am finished. I  will usually set a timer to see how fast I can get it done, because let's face it I really hate it that much.
  2. I take out my favorite black trash bag, and I go from one end of the house to the other purging! It feels so good! I pile those black trash bags in my car, and off they go to someone who might be able to use what's in them.
  3. Once everything is picked up, clean, and clutter free, I shop my house. I move a rug from one room to another. I change out curtains or pillows. I move mirrors from one wall to another. I rearrange the living room furniture. You name it! I do it!

But here's the thing. When it is all said and done, I feel like I have a whole new home! Sometimes you just gotta love the home you are in, and this system my friend is the BEST way to do it :)Marianne
