changing the world

While folding laundry and playing with Wit there was a story I heard in the background on the Today show that made me turn up the TV and pay attention. Maria Shriver was talking about her grandmother (Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, president Kennedy's mother)  and what an amazing woman she was and how she believed the work we do as mothers can actually change the world. What a powerful concept!Sometimes it is hard to keep the big picture in mind when daily mothering tasks start to seem trivial, but in reality I know stopping what I am doing to connect with one of my children actually does make a difference. Our children will make a impact on this work whether we like it not. They will come in contact with countless people over the course of their lives and impact those people in a positive or negative way. And of course the chain reaction continues as those people who have come in contact with our children interact with others.I know the work I am doing as a mother is the most important work in the world. My 3 three little ones have an opportunity to change the world as they interact with others and make a difference in their lives. Who knows maybe the 1st female president is living under my own roof!!!As the saying goes "to whom much has been given, much is required." The gift of motherhood truly is amazing, but I know I have to wake up everyday and make a conscience decision to do something great with that gift!So here's to all you mothers out there changing the world!Have a great weekend everyone :)
