It's raining....it's pouring!!!
Well we had a couple of back to back rainy days this week, and boy did it give me the urge to be lazy, stay in my pj's all day, and read until I fell asleep in the middle of the day to wake up, realize I was hungry and order a pizza....oh wait that was college!Yes these rainy days were spent a little different this time around. On day two I decided on a whim as the girls were leaving for school to throw them a "IT'S RAINING....IT'S POURING PARTY" when they got home. I quickly wrote them each a personal invitation and instructed Drew to have them open it on the way to school. The invite went something like this... You are invited to a IT'S RAINING IT'S POURING PARTY after school today hosted by Mommy and Wit. We can't wait to see you there! Have a great day! Love you, Mommy. I could just picture the excitement on their sweet little faces as they giggled and speculated about the specifics of the party the whole way to school. When I picked up Sadie at noon I still did not have my plan together so I enlisted her help with set up and the schedule. She of course was super excited to be in charge. We worked and played and worked some more on the party, and then it was time for pick up number two.Mia had a super worried look on her face when I saw her."What's wrong Mia?" I said"Mom are we going to cancel the party because it has stopped raining?" she asked"Of course not sweetie. It's PARTY TIME!" I assured her, and off we went to celebrate the rain or lack of it.This is what Sadie and I came up with for our party over lunch. We created 4 stations. We made raining pictures with cotton balls for clouds and glitter and glue for rain.Wit was more concerned with his space ship. Then it was on to games! Duck Duck Goose!Sadie and I made Sunbutter and Chocolate Chip cookies with vanilla soy milk for snacks. I had never made them before but they turned out AMAZING and were Dairy and Nut FREE!! I'll post the recipe soon :)Finally I had some goodies I had saved for a special occasion that Sadie wrapped in festive bags and paper. Everyone of course got a prize! It was a super fun easy and cheap way to entertain my kiddos on a rainy afternoon, and they made some great memories loving on each other.
