How to dye fabric....changing the color of a Pottery Barn Kids chair for under $10

My mom bought this great rocking glider from Pottery Barn Kids when I was pregnant with Mia, and boy did I use the heck out of that chair with both Mia and Sadie. So when I found out I was pregnant with Wit I hopped on the PBK website to order a blue slip cover only to find that they stopped making the style chair I owned! I certainly didn't want to spend the money on another one.....they are EXPENSIVE! I realized I could either sew a slip cover myself or try and change the color of the slip cover I already owned. I opted for option B and spent less than $10 changing the slip cover!!Beforechair before witsorry this is the only before picture I could find! And here is the AfterchairafterThis is what I bought at Joann's fabric in Navy as well as the treatment to set the color.chairhowtoThen I bleached the slip cover to get the hot pink out.Next I used my big sink in the laundry room to dye the fabric following the instructions on the bottle. You are given the option to use the washer to dye it, but I was worried about getting all the dye out of the washer so the sink was a better option as it was stained from cleaning out paint brushes anyway.Make sure and use rubber gloves or your hands will be a different color for days! The whole process took all day, but HEY I got a new slip cover for under $10!!!
