Welcome friends to fall in Florida! The only sign of cooler temps around the corner is the humidity. It lowers ever so slightly and you can feel a change in the air, but let’s be honest it’s still 91 outside by the afternoon!
Regardless of the temps, I am ready for a change in my decor….out with the color (navy blue in the summer) to neutral, black, burlap, white, and natural wood elements.
I am opting out of the tradition orange this year, and so far I love the peaceful feel it brings to our home. Pumpkins just started making their appearance in our produce section, but I am going to wait a few weeks before I stock up for the season. I love fresh decor you can throw away or eat when the season is over, and I don’t have to store it!
So here is our simple, rustic, neutral fall tour this year…..
Our kitchen table was one of the first pieces of furniture I stained. We bought it unfinished and hubby taught me how to stain and seal (he worked at a kitchen cabinet refinishing shop in college). It has a great naturally distressed look now from all the wear and tear, and I love it.
This neutral table runner was a fun Amazon find for $5!
Since Knox is now 2, he has outgrown the high chair, and I love these IKEA toddler chairs that allow for a farmhouse simple feel, and they are totally functional.
I found these cute burlap pumpkins at the Dollar Store this year. They are quickly taking over my kitchen, and they hold up to little hands.
When I painted the cabinets I took off the doors on this side to allow for some open shelving. I painted the back of them with black chalkboard paint, and they are super fun to decorate as the seasons (and my mood) change 🙂 I wasn’t ready to fully commit and take down the cabinets to install true open shelves so this was a good compromise for me.
In our bedroom I added a $19.99 pillow for lots of fall texture, some faux wheat, and of course a burlap Dollar Store pumpkin.
There is was little 7 year old I found hiding in this shot when I uploaded it 🙂
Happy Fall friends!
I love it!
